Imagery for the Nation Request For Qualifications

CGIA is partnering with the US Geological Survey, the California Resources Agency, and the California GIS Council to develop a California Orthoimagery and Digital Elevation Data Business Needs Assessment and Best Practices Report. To accomplish this, CGIA is distributing this Request for Proposals (RFP) to find a highly qualified firm(s) to develop the report and conduct associated outreach and assessments across the state. The resultant report prepared for this project should help guide local, state, federal, and regional agencies in identifying options for cooperatively acquiring and procuring digital orthoimagery and digital elevation data. The final report will be published on the CGIA and State GIS Council's websites and will become a theme-specific piece of the Strategic Plan for the development of the California Spatial Data Infrastructure.

International GIS Day 2007 - How GIS Affects Your Life
County of Sonoma Presentations & Demonstrations

International GIS Day is November 14, 2007. GIS Day is a grassroots event that reaches out to our community, to demonstrate the real-world applications and the importance of GIS in our world and business. In 2004 the US Department of Labor identified Geospatial Technologies, which includes GIS, as on of the three most important emerging fields; the other two were biotechnology and nonotechnology. Therfore, the user and value that GIS brings to our daily lives is far reaching.

  • In celebration of GIS Day and International Geography Awareness Week, November 12-16, the Santa Rosa ArcGIS Users Group will host a GIS Day event at Santa Rosa's Finley Center (2060 W College Ave, Santa Rosa). This event will feature presentations, demonstrations, and a map gallery.
  • GIS Day 2007

The Santa Rosa ArcGIS Users Group has chosen as the theme for this year, "How GIS Affects Your Life ". GIS will be showcased at this event by the County of Sonoma, City of Santa Rosa, City of Petaluma, private agencies and individuals.

If you are interested in participating in GIS Day by contributing to our map gallery or by giving a presentation or demonstration, please contact GIS Central.

For more information, go to https://gis.sonoma-county.org/GISDay.htm. This site will be updated as frequently as new information is made available.
