California Framework
Data Survey: The California GIS Council has announced
the availability of an on-line survey to help determine the collective
needs of California's GIS community for framework geospatial data.
This information will be used to develop a geospatial data plan
by the California GIS Council. The survey can be accessed at http://gis.ca.gov/council/survey.epl
and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Each program
within an agency, organization, company, or institution that uses
or has a need for geospatial information should respond if possible.
Survey results will be made available on the California GIS Council
web site.
FGDC Cadastral Data
Subcommittee Second National Survey: The FGDC Cadastral
Data Subcommittee is conducting its second national survey of
the status of parcel data in all fifty states and the District
of Columbia. The purpose of the survey is to determine the current
status and trends of parcel data in the US since 2003. This information
will be used by the FGDC Cadastral Subcommittee to facilitate
the coordination of activities related to cadastral data and the
exchange of cadastral data by formal and informal means. This
survey builds off of the 2003 Assessment of Parcel Data in the
US. Each state has a single cadastral contact that was acquired
with the assistance of the National States Geographic Information
Council. If a contact was not identified the state GIS coordinator
was sent the survey. Access to the survey is provided through
the FGDC's Subcommittee
Cadastral Data website. A link has also been put on the NSGIC
web site. The user identification is the full spelling of
your state, and the password is the corresponding state FIPS code.
This password may be shared with others to complete specific sections
or to verify the content of the data. The closing date for the
survey is November 11, 2005. If you have any questions
or problems with the survey, contact David Stage, Eastern Cadastral
Coordinator, FGDC Subcommittee for Cadastral Data, at 850-668-2604
or
. A notification of survey will be sent to each
GIS Coordinator through NSGIC.
